Fire Alarm Replacement Project: Colona School District #190, located at 700 First Street, Colona, Illinois 61241, is accepting sealed bids for the Fire Alarm Replacement Project at Colona Grade School. Bids shall be submitted under a single contract for all work. The project architect is Richard L. Johnson Associates, Inc., 4703 Charles Street, Rockford, Illinois 61108, (815) 398-1231.
Sealed bids will be received until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Colona SD #190 District Office, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days following the bid opening without written consent of the Owner.
All prospective contractors are strongly encouraged to attend a pre-bid meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Colona Grade School. A mandatory site visit to survey existing conditions prior to bidding is also required.
Bidding documents are on file at the office of the Architect in Rockford, Illinois, and may be downloaded at www.rljarch.com under "Contractors." Bidders may secure up to two (2) sets of printed bidding documents by submitting a non-refundable check for $100.00 per set ($120.00 per set if mailed). Bids must be submitted in duplicate on forms issued by the Architect.
Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of at least 5% of the total base bid amount, in the form of a certified check, cashier's check, bank draft, or bid bond payable to the Owner. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond for the full contract amount, with all associated costs included in the bid. Prevailing wage rates as required by State and Federal law shall apply to all work under this contract.
The Owner reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all bids when such action is deemed to be in the best interest of the District.

COMMERCIAL INSURANCE PACKAGE: Notice is hereby given that Colona Community Unit School District #190, Henry/Rock Island Counties, Illinois, will receive sealed bids for a comprehensive commercial insurance package for the 2026–2027 school year. Coverage lines to be bid include, but are not limited to: Real & Personal Property, Inland Marine, General Liability, Employee Dishonesty, Business Auto, Crime, School Board Legal Liability, Umbrella, Appraisal, Cyber Liability, Student Accident, Workers' Compensation, Treasurer's Bond, and Crisis Event Liability.
Bid packets identifying required coverage amounts, specifications, and submission requirements will be available beginning Monday, March 30, 2026, during regular business hours at the District Administrative Office, located at 700 First Street, Colona, Illinois 61241.
Sealed bids must be received by the District Administrative Office no later than 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026. Bids received after this deadline will not be considered. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularities therein.

STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES:Colona Community Unit School District #190, located at 700 First Street, Colona, Illinois 61241, will receive sealed bids for student transportation services for the 2026–2027, 2027–2028, and 2028–2029 school years.
Bid packets identifying specifications and submission requirements will be available beginning Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the District Administrative Office, 700 First Street, Colona, Illinois 61241, during regular business hours and on the District's website.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held at the District Administrative Office on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
Sealed bids must be received by the District Administrative Office no later than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Bids received after this deadline will not be considered.
The contract will be awarded, if at all, based first upon the bidder's demonstrated ability to provide pupil safety and comfort, stability of service, and conformity with Bid Specifications, and then by price and other factors as determined by the Board of Education. The Board reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids in whole or in part, to reject any bid from a bidder not exhibiting experience commensurate with the scope of this project or not submitting in accordance with Bid Specification requirements, and to waive any irregularities or defects in any bid. All decisions of the Board of Education are final.
